Didn't care for it enough to watch all of it..watched parts here and there after the first little bit. I don't care for scary movies unless it's also action or comedy (did laugh at this movie but not because of it being a comedy lol) Parents and cousin liked it tho!

I seem to remember you screaming/crying my name on TS frequently the one time we spoke Serpo! I thought the high pitch squealing was sky at first but alas I was mistaken LOL!
The movie is not out till the end of November here, so I'll try to catch it then. I'm not really a fan of most horror films but I may give this a try.

Sounds like a cross between blair witch and the one where the voice says "GET OUT"....If a house said that to me there would be burnmarks in the floor from my feet taking off so fast...I went and saw The Exorcist when it first came out in the early seventies...I had nightmares for about 6 months....now it's classed as lame to most people....Keep the horror movies...i'll settle for the one that Teal'c watched....MORE FUN...lol

Ah yes Serp, my thoughts exactly! I saw it opening night with a few friends. We were checked by security before being aloud in to sit. You see, because of the tremendous controversy surrounding this film, our local theater received numerous anonymous threats and hate messages for even showing it. Anyway, the theater was PACKED! And mind you, this is one of Goodrich's Imax Mega-Theaters, meaning there were A LOT of people there. The screen was huge and the room was dark, perfect environment for a horror movie; not on a 18 inch LCD computer screen in a loft somewhere Maniac... And yes, the environment does make a difference. To be fare, you did have to get into the movie to respect it's high points. Although in that showing, it was very difficult not to... Nevertheless, even after the criticism, I stand by my original opinion that this was a masterpiece of a movie.

What I consider masterpieces are movies such as The Guardian, Black Hawk Down, Transformers, Band of Brothers, Etc. Those required skill by the animators and the actors, as well as had good storylines. Paranormal Activity does not have either of those. I would classify it just as bad as Eragon (for whoever read the book then watched the movie), or Cloverfield, or The Knowing.

I'll have to check out the original The Haunting, thanks for posting that Sniffer.
Ares, I'm not sure what animation work you would expect on a $15,000 indie film, do you mean CGI? ILM and WETA are not going to provide a service to a film with that budget.
This obviously works for some people but not others, its the nature of all entertainment. For instance I really found Black Hawk Down boring when I saw it.

But it is interesting that you are comparing PA to these other, massive budget films. That's like complaining of the performance of a Honda because it is not a Mercedes. The Honda is a great car but it would be completely inappropriate to try and compare it to a car that costs $100M more. I can tell you that the day I saw it the theater was packed and after the end everyone walked out in complete silence. I think it freaked everyone out like it did me. I thought it was fascinating that there was NO conversation going on as we all walked out. Maybe it was just me but did anyone else think that the scenes of her standing next to her boyfriends side of the bed for hours without moving were creepy as hell? And Teal'c, you would have enjoyed the guys efforts to film themselves fooling around. He had about as much luck as I have had. But it doesn't stop me from trying either! LOL!!

I agree completely Serp. And yes, that part freaked me out quite a bit, after I figured out what was happening, that is. Hah, the first time she did that, only about half the theater actually realized, truly, what was happening. You had to look at her, then the time on the camera, then her again to figure it out, and some people just weren't that observant... lol
